The photo is from my student teaching days. I've learned a lot about teaching since then, but my willingness to take risks and laugh at myself hasn't changed. I find that this attitude makes life more enjoyable for both me and my students. And so this is the attitude I want my students to emulate. I want them to be confident, resilient, risk takers, willing to try new things even if those new things seem too difficult or scary. I have fears too. I have failed many, many times, but I've turned several of those failed attempts into successes. As Zig Ziglar puts it, "You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great." and "If you aim at nothing, you'll hit it every time."
I support fellow educators by providing professional learning courses and resources.
Ever go to a workshop or event where presenters gave a lot of information, but you got nothing useful to take back to your classroom? I'd say that a majority of my professional development experiences have been that way. I lose interest very quickly if it's not going to help make my life as a teacher easier while also helping my students achieve greater success. That's my aim here...
The purpose of this site and blog is to help...
Make teaching easier & increase student success
